The web site of Grant County Health District (GCHD) has total count data, but daily count data, and does not have Time series chart, which data, I want to know as one of Grant County residents. So, I created a web site by myself which is “Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Tracking – Grant County, WA -”. The web site is still in going live.
I drew the Data Flow Diagram (DFD) of these programs as the memorandums. The following is the DFD.

The outline is as follows.
- “Data Mod” program is written in Phyton. This program gets data from the health web site in Grant County (GCHD), which URL is the below.

“Data Mod” uses selenium library for data acquisition. Selenium is a Phyton library that can automatically run a web browser, and often uses a web system testing and scraping. I use selenium as the scraping function this program. - “Data Mod” processes the data acquired and saves it in CSV format.
- “Script” program gets CSV file saved by “Data Mod” and processes the CSV data. “Script” program is written in JavaScript. I choose Chart.jp library for displaying a chart this time. The data processed by “Script” program is passed to “Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Tracking” page on the web site.

Chart.jp is one of JavaScript library for drawing a chart. It designs to easily use it, and is also highly customizable.
As you can see the DFD, it is an ordinary program
Selenium and Chart.jp were the fist challenge this time. I think selenium is so powerful scraping library, and easier to use than “Scrapy” which is one of famous scraping library in Python. Chart.jp needs time to get used to, but once you get used to it, it is very convenient and we can draw a beautiful chart.
I used this time lots of languages such as Python, JavaScript, HTML and CSS. I hope someday I can write programs in one language.
I created to see this web site for only myself. Until Washington state Reopening is complete, I will go on going live this site and seeing it for checking a daily situation.
